FDI Clinical Research – Mayaguez
Formerly known as Diego Research Foundation, FDI Clinical Research was established in 2002 by Dr. Maribel Rodriguez-Torres, a specialist in Gastroenterology. In its early days, this center focused on the management and treatment of liver diseases, particularly hepatitis C. The center gained international recognition for being where the first patient was treated with oral therapies. More than 2,500 patients have been cured of hepatitis C at FDI. Over the years, the center has continued to strengthen its research infrastructure, expanding the therapeutic areas in which it offers services and conducts clinical studies. Currently, FDI Clinical Research is a leader in Puerto Rico in the field of clinical research in the following therapeutic areas: liver diseases (fatty liver, cirrhosis), oncology, immunology/allergy, gynecology, nephrology, rheumatology, public health, gastroenterology, neurology, among others. We have a specialized state-of-the-art center for early-stage clinical research studies (Phase 1).
